Preservation Experts
Muckle &Associates has gained regional recognition for its record of successful historical preservation and particularly for the high level of craftsmanship of its preservation carpentry.  Our general construction and specialty contracts include some of the area's most important governmental, religious and educational architecture, and our projects have won preservation awards, and numerous local historical commissions.

Master Craftsmen

An important goal of preservation projects is to preserve as much original architectural fabric as possible.  Such delicate restoration tasks can often be performed more easily in a shop environment.  Muckle & Associates carpenters carefully disassemble and identify architectural elements for transport to our conservation shop, where our joiners can perform the required wood and epoxy repairs and refinishing.  The shop is also a source for the exact replication of architectural elements which are missing or too severely damaged to be restored.

It is often said that one of the most problematic elements of building construction is fenestration.  The problems are compounded in historic buildings, where wood or metal windows have deteriorated and the restore-or-replace decision can be key to keeping the project within budget.  Muckle & Associates has been restoring windows for over twenty years, using a combination of joinery, custom fitted patches, and limited epoxy consolidation techniques.  We are available to assess the condition of historic windows and to recommend cost-effective means of making them operable and weather-tight, including the use of interior storm panels and screens.
